Alexander the Starfish

In July Charlotte and I took swimming lessons for two weeks at the Brisbane Community Pool. It's quite a long drive for a half-hour lesson, but it is the closest pool that is so shallow.

I have never liked to get into swimming pools, so Mummy didn't know what to expect when she signed me up.

At first I would only go in the shallowest water, and only once I had a toy to take with me (usually a blue duck).

My teachers were very patient with me. We played many games of "Fetch", where they would throw the duck into deeper and deeper water and I would go in after it. I was not too happy when it was in water deeper than my belly button. It was the second week before I went in this deep.

Patience paid off, and by the end of the second week I went in as deep as my chest and even my neck!

I also had a blast jumping into the pool, all by myself!
