We loaded up the car with snacks, sweaters, and our children. Julian tried to start the car. It would not start. Tears immediately started flowing in the back seat. Thank goodness for AAA. While I played some board games upstairs with the children, Julian dealt with the AAA in the garage. Within an hour and a half we were on the road with snacks, sweaters, our children, and a brand-new battery.

We drove through some thick fog to get there, but it was sunny and hot in San Rafael. It was almost too hot. Sweaters were not necessary. Charlotte and Alexander both had sunscreen on their faces and wore their hats the whole time, but you can see how flushed their faces were.

It was their first attempt at mini-golf. Alexander's stance, swing, and overall golfing style were rather unconventional, but he managed some really great shots. Charlotte was easily frustrated, but discovered that she could drag the ball a little with her putter and get it in the hole with fewer strokes. In the interest of good times and family unity, we overlooked some of the rules and put away the score card after the first hole.

They had a great time and have already asked when we can go back again. We probably do not have a Tiger Woods on our hands, but we look forward to more good times on the mini-golf course.
