Happy Fourth of July

Thanks to our friends Angus and Meg for inviting us to a Fourth of July BBQ. It was a typically foggy day in San Francisco, but we were happy to celebrate the holiday with an international cast of old and new friends.

My first job out of college was with Andersen Consulting. My first project was in San Ramon, California, working on a billing system for Telecom Australia. That's where I met Angus, back in 1994! Angus is so good about keeping in touch with people, that I can always count on him to reconnect me with old friends. It was such a surprise to see Cheryl in town from Melbourne, but it was lovely to catch up and to meet her husband Tom and daughter Georgina. Although Andy and Diana also live in San Francisco, we don't often see each other. What a fun reunion!

Charlotte and Alexander had fun as well. They managed to make toys of a swivel chair and an egg-shaped chair and a drum from Thailand, and made many new friends.

I had promised to take them to a Fourth of July parade, but unfortunately it started at the same time as our BBQ and we decided that attending both might be too much to handle. They were slightly disappointed until they decided to hold their own parade in the back garden. They even composed an original tune to accompany the parade!

Who needs fireworks anyway? Friends, family, food, and fun - a great day overall!
