A quieter day, with many good-byes

We slept until 8:30 this morning as our usual early wake-up call left for the airport at 5. The children have been missing Máté all day. We're so happy that they got on so well and wish that they could spend more time together.

Our friends Regina and Mathew came by for a visit this morning. Until recently, they lived across the hall from us in San Francisco. Regina and I often helped each other out by babysitting, supplying a missing ingredient, or lending a household appliance. More than just neighbors, we also became friends. We shared a special connection when we realized that we both grew up on the west side of Cleveland, and would have been in the same high school class if her family hadn't moved away. We miss them and hope to see them again in San Francisco and in Cleveland!

After lunch we headed to the park with Robi bácsi and Peti bácsi. Sári was struggling with the spinning monkey bars again. Then Robi bácsi showed her that she should grip the wheel from the inside rather than the outside. One more try, and she mastered it. Thanks for the hint!

Robi bácsi also helped Sándor out by pushing him on the swings. He couldn't stop laughing because he has never gone so high before. He was excited to be keeping up with Peti bácsi.

We had to hurry home so that Robi bácsi could leave before rush hour. He is driving to Fort Polk in Louisiana. Sári whined long enough about wanting a piggy-back ride that she got one all the way back!

We were very sad to see him drive off, but we are very happy that we managed to see him for a few days while he was in town. Be safe, Robi Bobi!

The house was feeling very empty, but uncles make good playmates when there are no cousins around. Peti bácsi played many games of Guess Who? with the kids this afternoon. It is their favorite game this week. Anyone else who would like to come by should be prepared to sit for a few rounds of it.
