Ever since they received the CD player for Christmas, the children have been listening to music on a daily basis. Alexander has even decided that he "needs" music to be able to perform on the toilet.
Today they came across a CD by the Hungarian band Ghymes. "Bennünk Van a Kutyavér" literally translates to "Dog's Blood is Inside Us". We have listened to the entire CD 3 or 4 times today. I've been unable to answer all the questions about the song and whether there is actually dog's blood inside of us.
The only help I found on the Internet was a translation of the album's title as "We Are Full of Mischief". So now I reach out to my Hungarian friends and family. If you can shed some light on this expression and the "sej haj denevér" that precedes it in the song, please post a comment and enlighten me so that I may enlighten my curious and confused children!
And while you're at it, we still can't figure out why the house goes out the window. Can you help?

Najm has been singing it all her life--well as far back as I can remember, but never stopped to think about it! Haven't got a clue, but am looking forward to finding out.
