I think Alexander didn't want us to have fun without him. He started running a fever last night, and it continued today. So Ethan went to a relative's house and we stayed home all day. There was some laying around on the couch watching TV, but every dose of fever-reducing medicine also caused a rush of energy. During these bursts, I was the lucky sole ticket-holder to the Webster Family Puppet Show and the Webster Family Ballet Show.

Alexander put on a puppet show, retelling Charlotte's version of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which was a retelling of my version of the same story. As in the telephone game, his story showed little resemblance to the original.

When Charlotte put her ballet outfit on, I suggested to Alexander that he just put the skirt on over his clothing. He was not about to go halfway. I had to find the entire getup (except the tights) that Charlotte outgrew last year.

So we did manage to have some fun, even if it wasn't the fun we had planned.
